DNHeadlines Exchange

An open exchange and Facebook Application for domainers to promote projects, services, domain names, or anything else related to the domain name industry.

About DNHeadlines and the Exchange

The release of our news aggregator has been well received since our launch in October 2007, and we continue to be a central aggregating source for the best domain name and related industry news around. In an effort to take the site to the next level and establish ourselves firmly within the domain name industry, we have made a number of substantial changes to the site.

Changes and Features

Redesign

The most obvious change is the redesigned layout including our tongue-in-cheek visual header, we feel both adds a much needed style and personality to the site. Interpretation lay with the visitor and we would love to hear your responses.

Categories

DNHeadlines.com was the first domain industry related site to bring you single-page aggregation, a different and in our opinion, more useful and efficient form of content consumption. With the growth in our feed inventory came the need to move to category-driven single-page aggregation. Navigating to the content you need is now more easily achieved with our new menu system.

Our feed inventory has also expanded to include an even wider array of quality domain name industry and related content within each category.

The continued growth of the Domain Name Industry demanded from us an expansion into new categories which now includes Domain Events / Meetups, Domain Videos and Domain and Internet Law.

Feed Info

Most feeds have a small info header that includes Compete, Alexa, DomainTools and LinkedIn data. For the Compete and Alexa data, simply mouseover for a small chart outlining the underlying site’s traffic data. The charts indicate the number of visitors over a 6 month period. The DomainTool.com link will open the site’s registration and other interesting information, and in a new window. In order to see if the site/feed contacts are “LinkedIn”, you must be logged into LinkedIn. Once the cookie is established, the info box should populate with site owner/employee info, if they have a LinkedIn account. At the moment, this is still a relatively new arena for domainers, but one that we believe is meaningful and should be utilized further. If you have a LinkedIn account and a feed on this site, we encourage you to sign up to LinkedIn.

DNHeadlines Exchange

In a spirit of “firsts”, we launch the only integration of a domain-related Facebook interactive platform to better provide its fast-growing domainer community with breaking news and services. This is our new service for domainers, especially Facebook domainers, to be proactive in marketing their domains-for-sale, projects / announcements, domain events or domain services, or even just having fun communicating with others in the community in one central and easily accessed source. This is a great way to turn to an extended network and referrals for new business, and remind them of what you do and of anything new.

To make it easier for Facebook users to participate, we have amalgamated the login to the Exchange with a single point of entry, the Facebook profile login. For users who wish to not use this feature, they may simply register themselves from the Exchange home page.

Adding feeds to DNHeadlines.com

If you know of or own a feed that you would like to have included in our inventory, then please let us know by submitting the site feed address to suggest@dnheadlines.com and any other notes or comments and we’ll take a look. Please note that we are not a site that will recommend or include any source simply because it is a domain-related site. To enforce our mandate to be the best single source for quality, diverse, industry content, we must adhere to minimum criteria for becoming listed, and is as follows;

  • The feed must be updated with a degree of regularity. This may be subjective and so we use site archives to get a sense of history. Sources without an established pattern of content submission will go in our pending folder for review at a later date.
  • The content must be interesting, and to a large extent, unique. There are some sites who have agreements with authors who contribute to multiple sources, although for this, we have made only a few exceptions.
