NameJet.com secured a healthy sale price for this typo, which ranks pretty well with other noteables I’ve seen reported by DNJournal, such as wwwrealtor.com for $21,361 at SnapNames, wwwfacebook.com for $15,722, also at SnapNames and wwwspyware.com for $9,000 (private sale).
Since I don’t have access to the actual traffic stats, I’ll use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool as the measuring stick, and I’ll assume that the typo searches are on target, then “www Realtor” and “www Match” offer up the close results with an average typo potential of approximately 165,000 and 201,000 respectively. The Match typo is cheaper at $0.055 per typo search with Realtor coming in at $0.13. The value of this typo is clearly a reflection of the value of the industry / vertical that it’s in.
The facebook typo is a steal at $15k if we are only talking about potential traffic, and is clearly the best deal with an approximate average typo search of just over 4,000,000, worth $0.003 per typo search. Obviously all of these amounts ammortize over time.
Not sure the value of a legal battle for the domain, but a cease-and-desist is super cheap.
